Ratnapura/Balangoda sub district

One of the few surviving tropical rain forests of the world provides a backdrop to the plantations here. This forest reserve, shelters the tea bushes from the strong south westerly winds. This region produces the brighter varieties of tea, favoured by Europe.

Located south of Ratnapura, but at the same elevation, this area produces teas that are lighter, and brighter in the cup.
